Richard Perry - Managing Director


Richard’s background in the corporate world, working for companies such as GCHQ, SERCO, British Energy and Hewlett Packard, gave him a strong foundation in IT and Telecommunications. In 1997, Richard & his wife Mary decided to take the major step of setting up their own business, Charlton Networks. This new company aimed to provide high-quality, locally based services to small and medium sized businesses and has remained true to that ethos.

The company now offers a wide range of IT and Telecoms services to customers in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire, Worcestershire, the Midlands and South West UK. It’s not all nose-to-the-grind-stone for Richard though. As an antidote to his technical work he’s off climbing mountains, watching Gloucester Rugby, making Cider and gardening – he’s often bringing in the fruits of his labour to share with the team!

Mary Perry - Director


Mary and her husband Richard have helped Charlton Networks grow into the successful company it is today. With an HND in Business & Finance and an ILM award in leadership & management' she has had a varied career working for such companies as; Zurich, the CRE - Coal Research Establishment, the Countryside Commission, Keep in Touch - PR & Marketing, and Pegasus Retirement Homes. She has also studied and worked in Spain and France.

Mary is the FD at Charlton Networks and oversees HR.In her spare time she likes travel and cookery and is also kept busy running around after their little Granddaughter, Lily.

Steve Hughes – Virtual IT Director


Steve is an Associate IT Consultant at Charlton Networks with a particular enthusiasm for developing IT so that it solves day to day problems and supports company strategy.

Steve is an experienced business leader who is able to bridge the gap between the technical and practical.Steve has particular IT experience in the charitable and not-for-profit sector and finds that other businesses benefit from this value for money approach.

Recent projects include Information Governance and the development of multi-platform customer and in-house communications strategies.

Steve is a Chartered Marketer and likes to make sure that IT supports sales and marketing. When he is not at Charlton Networks he may be working on his 20 year old campervan or enjoying time with his family.   


Mark Leatherby - Principal Engineer 

Mark is the Principal Engineer at Charlton Networks and is responsible for all IT projects and the management of the project team. Originally trained as an Electronic Engineer, he has gained over 25 years of experience working with networks, servers and the Internet.

Complimenting this, Mark is super-clever and very highly qualified; a VMware Certified Professional 5 (Data Centre Virtualization), Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator. He was also in the past a Novell Certified Engineer.

When he’s not working on varied and demanding projects at Charlton Networks, he’s making the most of living on the edge of the beautiful Cotswolds by indulging in his favourite past time, walking. He also he loves spending time with family.

Jenny Clough - Projects Administrator


Jenny is our amazing Projects Administrator. Whether it is ordering equipment or liaising with the team to schedule the work, Jenny is the person working in the background to make our projects run smoothly.

When she is not at work, Jenny loves to spend time with her family and two young children.


Rob Hardie - Senior Engineer

Rob has been with Charlton for just over a year and brought with him over 12 years of experience from the IT industry, including running his own company near Sydney in Australia.  Rob’s first-rate skills in Windows Server and Desktop, VMWare, Mac, and variety of hardware are all complimented by his extensive understanding of Microsoft. His expertise are essential to his lynchpin role within the Project Team, where he undertakes important assignments for our smaller and medium sized clients. 

When Rob isn’t doing a fabulous job at work, or being kept on his toes by his (very) young family, he’s tinkering with his Caterham Sports Car, running (including the occasional Wolf Run), playing tennis, and enjoying time with friends.


Tim Williams - Sales Manager


Tim has a key and important role managing the accounts of our existing clients. He ensures our services are maintained to the highest standard throughout the relationship, as well as working on Marketing and New Business Sales. Tim has also been studying hard for his Diploma in Management Studies which has taken up most of his spare time.

Equipped with some great experience in IT and Data Sales, Tim has worked for UCAS, Star Technology and the Bank of Ireland. His knowledge of account management and new business has been a real asset to the company, and he’s also an ‘ISC Customer Service Professional’ and thoroughly vetted with Government Security Clearance.

When he’s not being dynamic at Charlton Networks or studying he’s renovating his Victorian home, enjoying road trips, maintaining a keen interest in films and applying himself wholeheartedly to his social life.

Angel Petrov– Sales Executive


Bulgarian by birth, Angel is a real bright spark having taught himself English at a young age from watching television. He also started to learn about the technicalities of IT at the age of 7, and by the time he was 17 he was running his own small IT Support company.

Within a short time of joining Charlton Networks Angel became a fully integrated member of the team thanks to his natural aptitude and enthusiasm, and a great sense of humour. He says his favourite aspect of his job is to understand what the customer wants and then to work with his colleagues to make sure we deliver.  He also likes the fact that his job is varied as he meets people from different business sectors often with different problems to solve.

Prior to Charlton Networks, Angel Studied Drama for 6 years and has performed in both local and London theatres. He also runs his own YouTube Channel and is an avid Gamer.


Eric Gore - Help Desk Manager

Eric has notched up over 20 years’ experience in IT roles supporting companies from 3 to 30000 users. This background has equipped him with first-rate skills in a variety of areas including Cisco Networking, Avaya Telephony, VMware virtualisation, Windows Server and Desktops.

As the most experienced member of the Helpdesk team, Eric deals with the more complex problems that have been escalated by his technicians. He is also responsible for our engineers, their schedules and site visits.

Eric has two main activities that he enjoys when he’s not at work; relaxing with his family or on mountain bike bombing around the Cotswolds doing challenges.

Simon Carroll – Network Engineer

Simon brings with him a long and prestigious career in Computer Systems. Starting over 38 years ago as a Communications Technician in the Royal Navy, he has worked for EDS Defence Ltd, Sytegra, Per Una and BunkerCloud. His specialist areas being support, configuration, installation and the maintenance of IT systems applications.

It’s this excellent level of expertise that has meant Simon has really made his mark here at Charlton Networks, and has established himself as a valuable and resourceful member of the team. He also keeps a smile on everyone’s faces with his collection of terrible jokes!

When Simon isn’t working hard at Charlton Networks he enjoys spending time with his family and his young grandson. He also enjoys taking his dog for long walks, a good game of Skittles with friends and travelling to far-flung places on holiday.

Will Perry - Help Desk Technician

Prior to starting at the family company, Will served an apprenticeship at Zenos, where he learnt how to support Windows XP, and then attended college honing his coding skills. Having now been at Charlton Networks for 6 years he has had ‘on-the-job-training’ and holds a key and vital role determining the issue and severity of the calls coming in to the helpdesk. 

Once a customer’s issue has been logged and is in the queue, Will, together with the Helpdesk Team, will work on a resolution, monitor its progress and keep in constant contact with customer. He also uses his expertise in the LAB solving clients PC/hardware problems.

Will’s favourite method of relaxing is gaming. He is an absolute pro at Warcraft and Battlefield, and even built his own gaming PC - “it’s a beast”! He also loves to spend time with his daughter, taking her out on day trips which they both love.


Karen Jones - Finance Administrator      

Karen has a vital role with Charlton Networks managing the finances and ensuring everything runs smoothly. She is highly experienced having worked in accounting roles for over 25 years now. It's her expertise managing companies finances that ensure customers and suppliers are kept happy and that the internal workings are are effective and up-to-date.

In the past Karen has lived in Durban, South Africa, as well as Zimbabwe. Now, based in Worcester, she is busy working mum, with two sporty teenagers. When she’s not with us, she’s walking her dogs, reading or swimming, and has swapped her love of the African plains for the beaches of Cornwall.


Dave Carter - Website Engineer    

David has been a software developer since joining IBM from University in 1995. Having picked up an array of experience designing and building Database Applications with various companies, David has extensive skills in desktop and web applications, a variety of database platforms, and many programming languages.

With over 10 years experience working with WordPress, PHP, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, Ajax, JSON and various DB's, David has designed and built many websites and web applications. He also has 15 years experience designing and building Microsoft Office Applications (with Excel, Access and Word). 

When not writing code, David enjoys spending time with his young family. He enjoys designing lego projects with his young son, and 'cooking' with his daughter. He also loves music and visiting 'cool' places.
